It's more fun to call them windmills. So I do. :o) They're all over, and you will be seeing plenty more before your trek through Washington and Oregon is through. Especially as you enter Walla Walla.
Yeah, I've heard some locals refer to them as windmills, which is indeed more fun. I guess I'm not used to the term because the mountaintop windmills aren't really milling anything.
