Thanks, all. Sorry I spelled your name wrong, Bryan; I went back and corrected every instance of a misspelling, I think.

Rock on,

Kevin

Since you seem to be headed to/through Portland, let me recommend--strongly recommend--that you visit the world's best bookstore while you're there (Powell's). (There may be a better one somewhere--but I'd only believe it if I saw it.) Powell's was the one draw powerful enough to get me to cross the river and enter the city when I lived in Vancouver (WA, not BC). I went back last week (I was in Portland on my own, less strenuous, travels), and swear I had a minor spiritual experience just being amongst all those books and breathing in the atmosphere of the place. They call it the City of Books; it's a multistory building that fills an entire cith block, full of books, with maps and signs posted around to help you find things.

Anyway, more to the point for you, in the section on religion, there were two or three entire shelves of books on inter-religious dialogue. You might find something of interest there. Though I suppose you don't want to be carrying books around, so if you did find something you wanted, you'd have to figure out what to do with it. Hmm. Hadn't thought of that before. The idea of going for a year or more without books. . . . I can't even imagine.

Regardless, I still recommend it, if you're a bibliophile at all. Powell's is in downtown Portland, Tenth and Burnside, and public transportation in Portland is fair, so you could presumably leave your stuff where you are staying, go visit the bookstore, and return, without violating your new, more reasonable (in my opinion) vehicle rule. Or, if you're staying near downtown, walk. Portland is a nice city, and I can pretty much promise you the opportunity to meet interesting people in the process.
