Good news: Mike's dad has been discharged. He's got a follow-up appointment next week. Likely causes of his heart condition seem to be age and heredity. As is true for many heart patients, this implies a need for closer surveillance of all matters cardiothoracic from now on. Kudos to Mike's mom for keeping it together, calling 911, and being with her hubby. Kudos to Mike for driving up to northern Virginia from his far-off residence, for sitting with his dad, and for staying so on top of the situation. As both of our families are discovering, calm and common sense are absolutely essential in a crisis.
