The following pic was a parody of the Korean superstition re: "fan death," the idea that an electric fan can somehow kill you if you leave it on while you're sleeping in a sealed room. I was trying to introduce my students to a couple things at once: (1) the harder-hitting nature of American humor (as opposed to the over-saccharine nature of the Hello Kitty culture of bland cuteness), and (2) the nature of parody.
