I've blogged before about my wonderful Winter Intensive 2006 group. We loved each other so much that we all got together again in April of that year, this time to visit the big zoo in Kwacheon, south of Seoul. It was April 8, 2006-- about a day after my father had had his heart attack, and I was in need of some mood-lifting activity. April 8 also happened to be the worst hwang-sa (yellow dust) day of the year; undeterred, we spent the entire day outside.

For those who doubt how bad that yellow dust storm was, here is a photo I took that day while driving through Chungcheongbuk-do. It wasn't the best day for climbing a mountain...
